Pearl City Elevator

Grain Storage Facility

Lena, Illinois

In the summer of 2006 Pearl City Elevator called upon the professional services of Willett, Hofmann & Associates for the site design for the construction of 24 grain bins, access roads, railroad sidings and associated appurtenances on vacant land.  The new facility would put PCE’s corn storage facility next door to one of their largest buyers - the Adkins Energy LLC corn-to-ethanol plant.

The plans were designed to build the grain bins in phases.  WHA engineers first completed the final grading plans and stormwater management design for the grain bin construction, storm sewer plans and roadway plans and quantities.  Next, engineers completed railroad plans and quantities.  Throughout the project, surveyors have been on call for construction staking at the request of the owner and contractor.

The first four bins have been constructed and are in use, with plans for others to be built as-needed.

We at WHA are excited about the success of this project, and have been pleased to be a part of the continuing growth of both Pearl City Elevator and Adkins Energy LLC.  As we continue work on this project, we would be happy to give you any updates on the progress of the project or answer any questions you may have.
