Willett, Hofmann & Associates, Inc. was hired to provide professional engineering and land surveying services for a thirty-two lot residential subdivision on approximately eighty acres in Lena, Illinois.

A survey was conducted to obtain horizontal and vertical control.  A preliminary plat was designed, laying out the lots to take advantage of the scenic existing timber areas.  The work included a hydrologic study of the site, preparation of a stormwater management and detention plan, and horizontal and vertical design of the roadway and ditches. 

WHA engineers were in discussion with the Village of Lena to decide whether it was feasible to connect the new subdivision to the Village’s existing water and sewer connection.  The process involved coordination with the Village of Lena, the Village engineer, and the Stephenson County Health Department.  In the end it was determined that the subdivision will be serviced by individual wells and septic systems. 

WHA is currently designing the final roadway design, stormwater management and detention design, site grading to the building set-back lines, and erosion control.  Once the final plat is approved, a professional land surveyor will set final monumentation and record the final plat with the County.
