Gary Engbert Farm

German Valley, Illinois

Willett, Hofmann & Associates has provided a number of agricultural engineering services for Engbert Farms, a 300 head dairy in German Valley, Illinois.

WHA designed a Non-Lagoon Waste Handling Facility which implemented the use of a 20” x 22” McLanahan Sand-Manure Separator and an 11” x 22” Inclined Manure Auger.  The project included a grading plan.  Geological and water surveys, well records, and rain fall information were all studied, and design volumes were calculated.

WHA completed all design drawing and specifications required to obtain all necessary permits, including a Notice of Intent to Construct (NOI), Acknowledgement of Setback Compliance, and a Notice of Construction Plan Completeness from the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

WHA also performed construction inspection for the release of the client’s EQUIP funds.

After the initial project’s completion, WHA was hired again to perform the civil site design for a new freestall building and milking parlor designed by others.

All work was done in compliance with the Livestock Management Facilities Act, and included all required permits and coordination with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Illinois Department of Agriculture.
