New Savanna City Hall Feasibility Study Savanna, Illinois
Willett, Hofmann & Associates was hired to provide a feasibility study and early sketches of a proposed new City Hall building for Savanna, Illinois.
WHA’s work is only the very first step in the process. Currently the City of Savanna is discussing whether to use the preliminary drawings as-is or suggest any changes, while at the same time determining what to do with the existing buildings. The preliminary plan also gives the City an opportunity to plot their timeline and decide whether the new building will be built along with other building changes in the master scheme, or if building - and costs - will be spread out over a number of years. The preliminary plan can also be used in grant applications, offering grant reviewers a visual concept of what awarded funds would be used for.
The City of Savanna has completed the important first step in their new building plan with a professional preliminary drawing and honest recommendations on the feasibility of the new structure.

Transportation
was key in the history of Savanna, a Mississippi River town crisscrossed by
railroads. With Savanna’s rich history in mind, the architects at WHA designed
the building to resemble a railroad station, with a clock towering above the
brick-faced building. The new building is designed with more storage and
meeting spaces, and the new offices are designed to be more modern and energy
efficient than the current building. A covered drive-up will protect visitors
from the weather, and moving the entrance from the existing location will
further protect visitors by eliminating the current system of entering by
walking along a narrow sidewalk along busy Illinois 84 to enter the building.
