Willett, Hofmann & Associates, Inc. was hired to provide professional engineering and land surveying services for a twenty-eight lot residential subdivision on approximately eighteen acres in Lena, Illinois.

Work began with the survey, including property marking, pinning and a topographical survey.  Data from the topographic survey was used in the design of the street, drainage, sanitary sewer and watermain.  A storm water management analysis was also conducted to determine how much storm water detention was required on the site.    The work included a hydrologic study of the site, preparation of a stormwater management and detention plan, and horizontal and vertical design of the roadway and ditches.  A preliminary plat was designed, and the final plat was presented for signatures and recorded.

Construction drawings were developed with specifications for the design of streets, drainage and site design, as well as bidding documents for the extension of the Village of Lena’s sanitary sewer and watermain into the site along the Village’s roadway.

Coordination was required with the Village engineer and the Village zoning department.  In addition, permits were filed with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

WHA engineers also prepared an engineer’s cost estimate and a schedule of quantities.

The site is now complete, with a detention pond and all necessary utilities in place.  Construction on the new homes will start soon.
