WORK EXPERIENCE
Geoff is the Transportation Department
Manager and has twenty-six years of experience in the
transportation field.
For twenty-two years Geoff worked for the
Illinois Department of Transportation. Throughout his IDOT
career Geoff held positions with the Bureau of Planning, Bureau
of Construction, Bureau of Land Acquisition and the Bureau of
Program Development and worked as a Location Studies Engineer,
Project Support Engineer, Geometric Engineer, Design Squad
Leader and Resident Engineer. His diverse experience required
him to master a variety of tasks required for planning,
developing, implementing and maintaining the IDOT transportation
system.
After retiring from IDOT, Geoff worked in
private industry where he worked in site development with both
public and private entities, easily navigating through the
coordination and approval process for multiple state and local
agencies.
Geoff frequently works with the public.
He is an expert in public involvement, and while at IDOT served
on a committee that developed the Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS)
guidelines still in use by IDOT today.
As a result of his experience, Geoff has
the capability to see your transportation project from many
different angles, resulting in a project done as efficiently and
as cost effectively as possible.
RECENT PROJECTS
Reconstruction of the Big X interchange
Reconstruction / re-alignment of the ramps
for the I-80, I-74, and I-280 interchange, commonly referred to
as the Big X. Geoff completed the construction plans on behalf
of IDOT.
US Route
20 from Freeport to Galena
Environmental Impact Study and Phase I
Engineering Study for a new 50-mile four-lane highway from
Freeport to Galena. Geoff held public meetings for the review
of the technical reports, organized public hearings, and
submitted a Record of Decision.
Milan
Beltway Extension
Environmental Impact Study and Phase I
Engineering Study that extended the Beltway across the Rock
River and connected with IL Route 5 in Rock Island. Geoff
coordinated the design approval and obtained the Record of
Decision.

Business Route 20 West State Street Corridor
The project was a partnership between IDOT
and the city of Rockford to combine urban renewal and facility
upgrades into one project. The project had extensive public
involvement and numerous meetings were held with the community.
The project has an approved Environmental Assessment (EA) and
construction plans are being completed.
IL Route
251, Kishwaukee Street in Rockford
Mile long urban widening and resurfacing
project of Kishwaukee Street from 15th Avenue to Harrison
Avenue, utilizing CSS concepts. The facility upgrades developed
for the preliminary engineering and approved project report
incorporated input from various stakeholders through
coordination meetings with the City of Rockford, special
interest groups, and public meetings.
US Route
30 from Fulton to Rock Falls Project
Environmental Impact Study and Phase I
Engineering Study for enhancing the roadway between Fulton and
Rock Falls. Geoff set project schedule, developed public
involvement process and held the first round of Public meetings.
I-74
Iowa-Illinois Corridor Study
Study of the I-74 Corridor that extends
from Avenue of the Cities in Moline, IL to 53rd Street in
Davenport, IA, including the Mississippi River Crossing. Geoff
coordinated the public involvement process, established
alignments for the study, and held initial public meetings.
IL Route
64 from Mt Morris to IL 26
Widening and resurfacing of Route 64 from
the Community limits to the intersection of IL Route 26.
US Route
30 IL 251 to Shabbona
Widening and resurfacing of US 30 from the
IL Route 251 to Shabbona Road including the re-alignment of the
curves just to the west of the Village. Geoff completed the
construction plans on behalf of IDOT.
US Route
34 from Euclid Avenue in Princeton to I-80
Widening and resurfacing of US 30 with
intersection improvements, and rehabilitation of the railroad
structure. Geoff completed the construction plans on behalf of
IDOT.

Business Route 20 from Alpine Avenue to Perryville Road in
Rockford
Widening and resurfacing of Route 20
through the expanding commercial area adding turn lanes and
revising intersection geometrics. Geoff completed the
construction plans on behalf of IDOT.

Business Route 20 from Buckley Drive to the Clock Tower Entrance
Project consisted of a complete
reconstruction of US 20 and improving the geometrics of the
intersections. Geoff completed the construction plans on behalf
of IDOT.
IL Route
26 from Princeton to Bureau Junction
Widening and resurfacing of IL 26 from US
6 intersection in Princeton to the railroad crossing in Bureau
Junction. Project included bridge reconstruction, several
mainline and side road realignments, and constructing new ramps
for the I-180 interchange. Geoff completed the construction
plans on behalf of IDOT.
Tiskilwa
Spur over the Hennepin Canal
Project consisted of the removal of the
existing truss bridge and replacing it with 12’x12’ box
culverts. The mainline required both horizontal and vertical
realignments to meet current standards as well as the
realignment of adjacent roadways. Geoff completed the
construction plans on behalf of IDOT.
IL Route
251 from River Lane to Pearl Ave
Project was a coordinated effort with the
Army Corps of Engineers for a Flood control project. The
drainage canal was reconstructed along with this portion of IL
251. Geoff completed the construction plans on behalf of IDOT.
